LifeBank is a health care technology and logistics company based in Lagos Nigeria. It is a health startup that facilitates the transmission of blood from labs across the country to patients and doctors in the hospitals. LifeBank connects the two, providing the right information on the type and safety of blood and oxygen and ensuring fast deliveries. The health startup offers 24-hour service for all hospitals in our network, and we are able to provide access to safe blood in the event of an emergency or non-availability of a rare blood type. Since its inception, lifebank has served over 10,000 patients and over 3000 hospitals.
Meet Temie Giwa-Tubosun (Founder, Lifebank)
Temie Giwa-Tubosun, a visionary leader with over a decade of experience in Maternal Care and Public Health, has made it her life’s mission to revolutionise healthcare. Her journey began with a fellowship at the World Health Organization in Geneva, and she honed her expertise through roles at prestigious institutions like Fairview Health Services in Minnesota, Global Health Corps, and the UNDP Project; Millenium Villages.
In 2016, driven by a deep-rooted commitment to improving the lives of women, especially expectant mothers, and inspired by her own challenging childbirth experience, Temie co-founded LifeBank in Lagos, Nigeria. This revolutionary platform was born out of a pressing need – ensuring timely access to life-saving blood for hospitals.
What fuels Temie’s unwavering dedication is a profound understanding of the global maternal mortality crisis, particularly postpartum haemorrhaging. Her passion to eradicate this issue and save countless lives led her to build LifeBank, a business model meticulously designed to address societal challenges while remaining an attractive prospect for investors.
Temie’s relentless pursuit of excellence and innovation has earned her international recognition. She was named one of the six World Economic Forum Innovators in 2017, claimed the prestigious Africa Netpreneur Prize from Jack Ma in 2019, and was honoured as the Global Citizen Business Leader in 2020.
However, Temie’s mission is far from over. Her vision is for LifeBank to expand its reach to more countries, collaborating with tens of thousands of hospitals, and extending its impact to Southeast Asia and South America. The journey continues, as she remains committed to creating a brighter and healthier world for all.
